What it does
qXR reads plain chest radiographs and marks abnormalities for a clinician to confirm. It is used both to prioritise a reporting queue, so that the films most likely to be abnormal are read first, and in settings where a radiologist is not immediately available.

The design problem specific to this product type is what to do with an uncertain result. A binary normal or abnormal answer is easy to render and dangerous to trust; a probability is honest and hard to act on. Where a triage tool draws that line determines whether it saves time or generates work.
It carries a series of FDA 510(k) clearances for named indications. Each clearance covers a defined use rather than the product as a whole.
Patterns this product illustrates
PatternsClinicianModerate clinical risk
A worklist ordered by what needs attention
A clinician's list of patients, studies or tasks, ordered so that what most needs attention is at the top (by acuity, by risk, by a flag, or by an AI's confidence that something is wrong) rather than by arrival time or name. The pattern includes how the ordering is explained, how it can be overridden, and what happens to the items that are not urgent.

AIHigh clinical risk
Human review of AI output before it enters the record
An AI-drafted output (a clinical note, a radiology pre-read, a variant classification) is presented to a named clinician as a draft, with the means to check it against its source, before anything is filed, signed or acted on. The pattern is the review step itself: what is shown, what can be verified, and what the clinician has to do to accept it.
