What it does

Hinge Health delivers care for back and joint pain remotely. A member is assessed, given an exercise programme they follow at home with motion guidance, and has access to physical therapists and health coaches without attending a clinic. The company also offers Enso, which it describes as an FDA-cleared wearable device for pain relief.

Read the full description

The commercial argument the company makes to employers and health plans is that musculoskeletal care is a large share of their spending, much of it surgical, and that conservative treatment delivered consistently displaces some of that surgery. Recent HealthTech has not verified the size of that spending or the displacement effect; the structure worth noting is that the buyer is an employer or a health plan rather than a patient.

The company publishes outcome figures from its own membership. Those are company-reported results rather than independent trial evidence.
