What it does
Skin Analytics develops DERM, which NICE describes as an artificial intelligence based skin lesion analysis technology for the screening, triage and assessment of suspected skin cancer lesions in adults. Images are taken with a smartphone fitted with a dermoscopic lens and uploaded to the company's platform.
Independent evidence
Established from a source other than the company.
NICE guidance HTG746 (published 1 May 2025, last updated 17 March 2026) says DERM can be used within NHS teledermatology services during a three year evidence generation period, only if the evidence in the evidence generation plan is being generated and once it has appropriate regulatory approval, including NHS England's Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC) approval. NICE requires a healthcare professional review for people with black or brown skin, regular monitoring of DERM's performance, and additional protocols such as a national governance framework. NICE states that DERM has a class III CE mark and costs £30 per referral.
What the company says
The company’s own statements, attributed to it and not presented as established fact.
The company says DERM is used in 24 NHS hospitals (June 2026; in April 2025 it said 26 NHS sites) and that DERM is an investigational device in the United States. It announced a £15 million Series B led by Intrepid Growth Partners in April 2025.
The operating office is in London. Companies House records the registered office in Cambridge (company number 07919560, incorporated 23 January 2012).
