What it does
SOPHiA DDM takes raw next-generation sequencing output and returns a shortlist of variants with annotation and a preliminary classification, so a clinical or laboratory team is reviewing candidates rather than raw signal.

Pre-classification is the interesting and contentious part. Ordering the list is what makes it usable; it also decides what a reviewer sees first, and therefore what they are most likely to act on. A tool of this kind shapes the report even when it does not write it.
It is used across oncology, hereditary cancer, rare disease and metabolic testing, and the company states it is IVDR-certified.
